The purpose of this website is informational and educational.
I’m sharing content on this website, and via my social media channels, to help other people manage and recover from health issues including SI joint dysfunction, central sensitization, fibromyalgia, and mast cell activation syndrome– all of which I’ve experienced myself.
There are many reasons why someone can experience these issues– whether through genetics, lifestyle factors, or due to an injury.
I am not a medical professional and am not licensed to treat any condition or disease. However, my goal is to bring these conditions to your awareness, so that if you believe you may be experiencing them, you can search for a medical professional who does treat them.
Given that this website is intended for a wide audience, it is not possible for me to anticipate every potential cause or contributing factor to your individual health issues or experience with chronic pain.
Each individual’s situation can be completely unique. Various factors including genetics, lifestyle, and the nature of the original injury all playing a role in the symptoms a person experiences.
All use of this site is solely at your own risk. My goal here is to provide you with the information it took me years to compile for myself, all in one place.
It is your responsibility to do due diligence, and to always check in with your own licensed medical professionals prior to implementing any recommendations from this site. I make no guarantee that I have addressed every possible cause, contributing factor, or treatment for the conditions addressed on this site.
Results are individual
On this site, I aim to raise awareness about treatment approaches that have worked for me, as well as other individuals I’ve met through running my site and coaching business. I keep all personal information confidential, unless you have explicitly given me permission to share your story. Generally, I share information about outcomes– how one person suffering from one type of symptom found relief with a certain treatment.
Again, I cannot diagnose you, and I cannot treat you. Instead, my goal is to empower you with the information it’s taken me years to compile, so that you can search for your own answers more efficiently.
Ongoing research and controversy
Many of the topics I discuss, including SI joint dysfunction, fibromyalgia, and mast cell activation syndrome, have historically been underappreciated by the medical profession.
As a result, each condition can be a somewhat controversial subject. There are various schools of thought among licensed medical professionals regarding the nature of each condition, and the best way to treat it.
For example, there are MD’s who don’t believe SI joint dysfunction is a real phenomenon.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are MD’s who go so far as to perform surgery to fixate the joint in one position, in order to mitigate the dysfunction.
Again, the purpose of this site is informational and educational. My goal is to raise awareness and consolidate information in a central location.
At times, I may discuss scientific research articles, so that you may feel empowered to speak knowledgeably with your medical professionals.
I may also address perceived controversies within the medical profession. Any statement I make in this regard is from the perspective of an individual who has dealt with this condition herself. My goal is to help others find the right treatment approaches for them, as I was helped by finding the right doctors, physical therapists with approaches that helped me.
It took me years to discover what worked for me, and I want to save my readers and coaching clients the time it took me. For this reason, I aim to raise awareness about the schools of thought and methods of treatment that played a positive role in my journey.
However, any endorsement I make in this regard is based on my personal experience only. It is impossible for me to anticipate the nature of each individual’s situation who may come to this site, which is why nothing I say is meant as a substitute for direct medical advice. It is simply informational.
Diagnosis and contributing factors
There are many reasons why a person could experience lower back and/or pelvic pain, and some of them are not caused by the SI joint.
For example, many people experience similar symptoms due to conditions including but not limited to disorders of the lumbar spine and/or hip joint.
At times, I may address these issues in my content and on my coaching calls, because it is important to me to help my blog readers and coaching clients understand their situation.
However, I am not licensed to diagnose or treat any condition or disease.
Instead, my goal is to share information and to empower you as a patient, so that you can speak knowledgeably in your conversations with medical professionals, and seek out consultations with relevant specialists.
It is possible that you may not have any of the conditions I mention on my blog. Ultimately, you may have a completely different diagnosis from anything I mention here.
By using this site, you agree that it is your responsibility to ensure you’re under the care of licensed medical professionals, and that you communicate with them regularly about any changes in your symptoms, or before making any changes to your routine.
Exercises and recommendations
At times, I may discuss certain exercises and lifestyle modifications which I, readers of my blog or coaching clients have found helpful.
These recommendations are general in nature and are for the purpose of raising awareness.
They are not specifically tailored to your situation and may not be right for you.
By choosing to use this website, you agree that you understand any exercise or lifestyle change has the potential to create a negative outcome if it isn’t right for the individual person.
By using this site, you agree to consult a medical professional before making any changes to your healthcare or exercise routine.
And by using this site, you agree not to hold Christy Collins liable for any experience you may have after implementing a recommendation from this site. It is your responsibility to determine which interventions are appropriate for your individual situation, under the guidance of a licensed medical provider who can evaluate you personally and is familiar with your exact situation.
